4th of July

We decided to go to Blanding for the 4th of July this year. The only way for us to make it was to go through Grand Junction, CO. We got on the flight in Tulsa on June 28th and got 10 min outside of Dallas when they put us in a holding pattern because of weather. After 30 minutes in the holding pattern they sent us back to Tulsa for gas where we ended up on the tar mack for 2 hours. We had reserved a car but planned on reserving a hotel once we landed in Dallas since we would have a couple of hours. Well we got to Dallas and had 10 minutes to get across DFW they had already closed our gate and I asked a guy in a florescent jacket where the flight was and he opened the gate for us we sat down and the plane taxied out. We got into Grand Junction at 10:04 the rental car place closed at 10 and we had no hotel. So we called a few hotels but no shuttles. We decided the first one with a shuttle is where we were going to stay. Yeah for the Courtyard Marriott. We had a great room, a little pricey but we slept good and had a great breakfast under the gazebo outside next to the river. It was a great way to restart our crazy vacation. We had to wait for our luggage to arrive on the next plane from DFW so we took the kids to see Toy Story 3 and they both peed on each of us twice. We went to get our rental and they had given it away so they took someone elses car to give us one. We then headed to Montrose to see Great Grandpa Gardner's grave. It was a great experience. Then Grant told me to call Becky back because he had previously answered a call from her, so I did as we headed out. I thought he had read the map and knew where we were going, but he thought I was navigating. After about an hour of being off of our route we retraced and got back on. Google had us going over a mountain scenic route. It was beautiful but dirt roads 70% of the way. Here are a few pics we took when we stopped for a potty break. The rest of the trip was great and here are the pics to show it.
